This was the perfect birthday theme for a boy who LOVES Legos and has a super-positive outlook on life. Every day of his seven years has been a joy, as he wakes up with an “everything is awesome” attitude.
I wanted a fun and easy celebration, so we treated a few of his friends and their parents to go with us to see The Lego Movie. It was a blast!
We started his morning by setting up a fun dessert table for him to see – most of which I brought to the party-room of the movie theatre. He wanted donuts and no cake this year! I stacked them to make the perfect “cake” to blow out his candles.
I added movie-theatre themed candy and made a banner, with a duplicate that I hung in his room so that it was decorated when he woke on the morning of his special day.
Before the kids were able to dig-in to lunch and all of the treats, they were asked to use a little hand sanitizer. They thought the floating Lego pieces were super cool. It couldn’t have been easier to make. I bought a new bottle and removed the label. I opened the container and with a skewer, I pushed and moved each Lego piece, to where I wanted it to go. It was well worth sacrificing a few of my son’s pieces.
Then there were the party favors. This was another simple and fun idea. I bought basic pencil boxes and filled them with treats and a Lego Movie mini figure. My favorite detail was the custom labeling, featuring a different movie character for each child.
The party was awesome! The kids danced-off most of the sugar before the movie even started.
Life is good! When you are this in-love with your children and family, everything really is awesome.
